what color paint for steel blue carpet & sofas with little light, basement family room. I’d like it to look new & light and colorful.

Sharon:
The only way to make a room light is to have good lighting. While light colors can appear lighter, if there is no light, they will look gray and cold, like shadows. Instead think about making the room warm and contrasting with lots of colorful art on the walls.
Steel blue looks best with paint colors that keeps the “gray” blue cast “cool” not “dingy” so stay away from bright yellows that will make the steel blue look washed out. Instead, choose neutrals like Devine Latte, Devine Macadamia, Devine Cashew, or Devine Muslin to warm up the walls. Contrast the steel blue and make it lighter with earthy red-oranges like Devine Blush, Devine Ginger, or devinegreen: Lobster. Greens like Devine Moss, Devine Fescue or devinegreen: Mantis will make the room look fresh and contemporary. For a traditional look try Devine Denim, or devinegreen: Shark. I’m so excited to have found your website! I have a lakeside condo with tall vaulted ceiling in den (slopes from 12 feet to about 30)and low ceiling in kitchen. It’s an open plan with offwhite tile floors and light cherry wood floors upstairs. The kitchen has white cabinets and black/tan granite tile countertops. Artwork I want to keep has bold shades of red, purple and blue, with touches of orange and gold. Can you suggest neutrals to make it cozier and be a good backdrop for my contemporary colorful art and white trim? Thanks!
