Making natural color surfaces brighter

Every single Devine Color revolves around nature, art and proportion. People say that my line has a natural look. No matter how bold, vibrant or light, the colors seem to “nestle in” among other colors.

Wall color should never be the loudest drunk at the party. Because it is the biggest color in the house, natural surfaces can easily be dominated and become muddy and dull.

Every color in your home should compliment each other’s presence. Harmony is one way to accomplish this. I want to show some fabulous examples of natural surfaces in great color relationships. For this look, try Devine Cashew, Shade, Terracotta or Filbert

Harmony is not about matching; it’s about complimenting a relationship. This is the core of my color consulting philosophy and every color palette I develop. For this look, try Devine Glass, Moss, or Date. The beautiful charcoals in the marble only get richer by having our green seep into it.

What about harmony with richer color? For this look, try Devine Organza, Teak, Lil’ Melon or Ale. Here, a lot of complicated angles are smoothed over by a strong color which allows the granite to become the focus point.

  1. Thank you for adding the pictures on the website. I do love using a large palette of Devine colors in my house. I love how they layer as you go from room to room. I loved my house the moment I saw it, but now with color I love it even more! Just curious, do you work with national flooring companies? I am looking for some flooring and after looking more closely at one of the 2 booklets I brought home I wondered if the walls in the pictures were painted with Devine paint. The rooms and flooring are beautiful AND beautiful together. In the other book, the company must have spent less time considering the walls and it is hard to “see” the floors. What a difference!

  2. Donna:
There is an organization that is using Devine Color as backgrounds to the flooring industry. It is called WFCA (World Floor Covering). Thanks for the great comments about the paint. Devine colors were made to have a relationship with natural colors found in wood and stone, so when our color gets as big as a wall, it makes those colors look richer. When you are in the room, you can feel the difference. Happy hunting!

  4. Help with Moss? I have painters in my house as I type. Did the whole house in Devine and love it. Paprika in the living room. Denim in the Boy’s Room. Berries in the girls. Peanut in the common areas. Love it all. But the Moss. It’s in the stairway and looks good, but the stairway leads to a playroom at the top of the stairs. That room now looks sophisticated, but NOT fun. It has an interior window looking out on the Paprika. Big windows but the room is shaded by low overhanging roof. The Moss looks so boring in comparison to the rest. What can I put in the playroom, perhaps on one wall, to warm/liven it up a bit? The ceiling is natural fir which really limits my options. PLASE HELP!
