Pour some Guinness on me

What makes Devine Color different?
It’s another day at the office. No, I don’t have a beer every time I am at the office, but once in a while I get a brain cramp, and I need relief. My head swells up with so many ideas that it seems like its about to explode, making it impossible to think the next thought. It feels like my head is burning up, and I can’t see past the smoke. Not just a headache, a full-fledged imagination ache.

I believe Guinness is the original Advil. Thank GOD that I’m my own boss, because I can allow myself to occasionally pound down a Guinness and soothe my imagination aches. I am not sure if this helps me with my breakthroughs, but it’s a treat nonetheless, and it tastes great. It definitely gives me a little break from the heat.
I have a theory. Imagination is like a dry forest, a forest that’s ready to burn. An idea is a spark. The spark takes root in that dry forest, and it grows to become a raging fire. It is all-consuming. Imagination burns a path to new realities, and, as in nature itself, new growth comes from the burning away of the old.
These ideas, born of the imagination, lead one to think they are just within reach. But as the fire burns, smoke fogs the path. This is the world that artists live in: blind certainty. We see the destination clearly, but end up having to feel out the path through the smoke. I like to think of it as courageous, blind certainty. After all, who else can lead a group of people through the middle of a fire, with smoke all around, and ask everyone to sit and wait, because soon it will all be beautiful, meaningful, and revealed?
Many have asked me what makes Devine Color so different.
I burn with ideas. I dwell in the fire of my imagination, and I lead the way to new realities, which emerge in living color.
Someone, please pour a Guinness on me.

Next time your imagination aches…try adding a shot of Irish Wisky and Bailey’s Irish Cream into your Guinness. One Irish Car Bomb and you’ll see a whole new kind of color.

Hi Gretchen,
I was wondering, what’s the beautiful green color in your office- I want it!
Thanks,

Vicky:
That would be a well-lit Devine Green Tea! Can’t help myself for being so partial to Caribbean lime greens. lol

Hi Gretchen!
I too love the green! Which colors would you recommend with it? I like warmer colors, Lemon Drop perhaps? I’d like a color for below the chair rail and above the picture rail. Also, you mention “well lit” – does that mean it may not look as warm in foggy San Francisco?
Thanks!!
Kerry
p.s. I couldn’t agree MORE re Guinness: The Original Advil!

I work from home. Guinness can get me through some tough work-a-dog days. I once got in trouble with my bosses @ an old job. I brought a 6pack in to work to give as a birthday present to my manager. I neglected to keep it in the brown paper bag it came in. I put a bow around it and walked in nice and cool. i didn’t get to my desk before I was called onto the carpet by the same manager and his boss. When I explained that it was a gift they laughed. The 3 of us and the owner of the company shared the 6pack at lunch and I got the rest of the day off—with pay! :0)
Cheers!

Gretchen,
Too cute! We just moved to the East Coast from Portland. I had to re-order my “portfolio” of samples as mine were mistakenly packed in boxes. For me, an ocassional full-bodied cabernet helps me sort through design choices that spin in my head for days on end!
My husband is quite the black-and-tan fan, so if your Guinness break leads to any new Devine colors before the middle of November, I’d happily be the first to order THAT palette for our new home theater (aka…a serious man cave). In the meantime, I anxiously await my new swatches so I can begin my third “Devine” house in five years! I already have the neighbors steeped in anticipation waiting to see the results. In fact, we were joking at the pool today about needing to buy a whole truckload of Devine to paint all of our new homes from head to toe (it’s a new development, so there are LOTS of walls screaming for color nourishment!) We live about 120 miles from your nearest Dealer, so I guess we’ll be making some roadtrips to McLean soon.
Cheers!
