Driving the distance

I often get emails about our lack of distribution. Devine Color’s word of mouth has grown faster than our distribution, making it a product people will go the extra mile for. The Devine Color experience keeps the word-of-mouth rolling!

Hello Gretchen

Your colors are devine…no doubt about it.
I will probably use them however I must tell you my biggest problem with the line. The nearest store is a good 45 minute hike from my house. No a problem in itself, BUT I have to drive there , pay to bring the samples home, and then get them back up there again. At the other end, my wood floor person is 45 in the other direction.

It is just so difficult to coordinate getting the colors to all the other wood, counter top, flooring guy etc etc etc. If only you had an easier way to let folks get the colors home. Even you compromised yourselves, somehow by making up a chart, and then if someone actually decides that a particular Devine grouping is perfect, it is worthwhile to go up and get and leave a deposit on that one sample. Still a nuisance but better then paying a deposit on all the colors.

Anyway, that being said. I do love your product and will try to work around the inconvenience of trying to get the mountain to mohammad. (oops, that is probably not PC these days :)
If you have a suggestion I would appreciate it.

Dear Anonymous:

Thanks so much for your frank email. It is hard for an independent line to make it across the nation in a world of paint corporations and big boxes. We rely on the “Indy dealer” market with little consistency over what they will offer their customers from our line. As far as coordination of color materials, a great resource is WFCA (see blog: Virtual Rooms: Take a look at Devine Color) and see how Devine Color is attuned to different natural wood, flooring and countertop surfaces!

While everyone gives away a “copy” of their color, in small paper chips, we make our color visuals in actual paint, so when you are studying them, you end up choosing the color you think you are getting. It is is a small investment, but as a consumer myself, I came to the conclusion that the right color, in the end will cost less than the wrong color if someone saves you time and gives you the color you want. The palette works together, so owning our Hand-made Palette is the best investment you can make. For less than 25.00 you are getting a color library that will help you in years to come.

We are building a new website and it will include a section on customers sharing their pictures with us and a how-to “do-it-yourself” using our palette and “do-it-for-me” using our colorists. All things to inspire everyone to live with color that sings, whether you can do it or need help to do it! (see blog: the shade of Devine things to come)

If you want to know more, and go further about our color philosophy and color relationships, read my book, Devine Color: When Color Sings! You will find it very insightful.

I appreciate your diligence in working with our color and finishes and they will not disappoint. In the meantime, why don’t you let me know about your home and I can suggest colors. I hope that the mountain will hopefully, come to near you, very soon :)
