Door Color Painting Advice

You know that when your neighbors look at your house, they are looking straight at your front door. The front door is always the main focal point our eyes search for. It is the easiest change you can make, the fastest, and the most inexpensive way to give the exterior of your home a facelift. As a matter of fact, who says the front door has to stay the same year-round? You know, if you have a good brush, and smooth paint, you can take a couple of hours in a day and coordinate your front door to the flowers in your garden or the pumpkin lanterns on your doorstep. We are coming out with 15 really cool and groovy colors for front doors later on this year. I wanted to give you a heads up to start thinking about what’s behind door# 1, door#2 or door#11. I have seen a lot of red doors these days, and yes red makes the door pop with color. Red doors, with white or black surrounding trim, look really phenomenal with a wide range of light and dark cool colors such grays, whites, greens, blues, or really happy yellows. To pick the right red, imagine the door as the tie on a shirt. Think how special a red tie is and how it can make or break an outfit. That drives the point home right away. Your shirt—the body color of your home—is what matters when you’re picking out a door color. Nix the possibility of a red door if your home has a “pink” or purple cast under a beige. Instead a rich plum, charcoal or chocolate door can be the fashionable talk of the cul-de-sac. Wait till you see the greens I have for doors, and the blues as well. You won’t have any problem coordinating the perfect outfit for your home once we release our brand spanking new product called Devine outDOORcolorâ„¢. Think about how you’ll coordinate your shutters and trim as well. You are in for a treat!

Hello – I would like to find the perfect blue color for the interior of the FRONT DOOR to go with Devine Cafe on the walls. We are trying to improve the bland appearance of a temporary rental townhome where walls are white and unfortunate pinky-beige carpet. I love the idea of the front door having a pop of color but don’t see the FrontDoor line at my paint store. The outside of the door we cannot paint. Thanks!

We have lots of beautiful colors and because you are painting the door inside you can use the same “Devine Sheen” as your Cafe walls to smoothly accent the door with a different surface (sheet rock vs metal). See Devine Denim, Macaw. Jay, or Cool for a traditional rich blue look. For a contemporary look what do you think of Devine Breeze, Koala, or Reef? Let me know how it turns out! We love to hear about how Devine ideas become real and make a difference in your home!

We have a red brick semi detached house with a white molding around the front door which is a cape cod blue and very old in need of replacing. What colour would work best?
Thanks, Jim.
